PPWR in focus

The new EU Packaging Regulation PPWR will come into force on 12 August 2026 – bringing profound changes for everyone who manufactures, uses or places packaging on the market. We are working intensively on this issue, monitoring current developments and are prepared:

  • Timetable: In force since February 2025, some points binding from August 2026, then gradual expansion
  • Recycling: The PPWR sees corrugated cardboard packaging as the benchmark for recyclable packaging; monomaterials, labelling and further optimisation remain important
  • Material restrictions: Clear limits for harmful substances (e.g. heavy metals, PFAS)
  • Extended producer responsibility (EPR): New registration, verification and cost obligations lead to expanded documentation
  • Understanding of roles: Manufacturer, supplier, importer or distributor – obligations depend on the role

Packaging can already be optimised, monomaterial concepts implemented and documentation prepared.

We are familiar with the currently known contents of the PPWR and can provide you with practical and forward-looking advice.
